The State’s Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (NDCAP) will meet for the second time on June 21st the Plymouth Public Library. NDCAP was established by legislation in 2016 to address the decommissioning of Entergy’s Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, due to permanently shut down by June 2019. Our Executive Director, Pine duBois, has been appointed to serve on NDCAP, along with legislators, energy experts, and town officials.
The group plans to organize, elect Co-Chairs, determine which initial sub-committees to establish, and set regular meetings. The public will also have two chances to briefly comment: 1) on the sub-committee ideas, which currently cover topics such as Pilgrim’s operations before shutdown, waste storage and management, emergency preparedness, safety, community involvement, economics, and government relations, and 2) topics that should be covered at future meetings. Good ideas are encouraged, but long-winded speeches will frustrate everyone because time is short. So think hard, boil it down, and participate!
