The Shallop visits the Landing

Saturday July 31st, 3 to 6PM

The Shallop from Mayflower II will sail from Plymouth and up the Jones River to visit the Landing. The Shallop is a replica of the 33 foot sailing vessel brought over by the Pilgrims in the hold of the Mayflower in 1620. Take the opportunity to get an up close look at a 17th century vessel.
There will even be a chance for 10 or so people to be able to help row the ship up the river from the town landing at the mouth of the Jones. Space for rowers is limited so contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 781-585-2322 for more information if you are interested. You may also bring your own canoe or kayak and join a flotilla escorting the Shallop to the Landing.

This will be a great family event with food, games and activities as well as raffles and silent auction items. This event will help raise money to support the Landing’s purchase last year of the historic Holmes/Watson boatyard just up the river. As part of this effort the Landing will raffle off an 8 foot rowing pram newly built by a class held here at the Landing this winter. Pram raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25, so make sure you get your tickets by the drawing on the 31st (though you need not be present to win).

Launch of the Tommy Cod

We had a spectacular turnout for the launching of the Tommy Cod "Revival" at the first High Tide Potluck BBQ of the season! Eighty enthusiastic folks turned out to hear some great speeches, watch the boat launched to musical fanfare and champagne, take it for a row and finally catch up with the rest of the Friday night potluck crowd over drinks and grill fare. Thanks to all who came, including Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray!
