January 28 - Hands-on Hot Metal Workshop
George Greenamyer, instructor
George will demonstrate a variety of techniques for working with hot metal. Participants will get a chance to try their hand at creating a simple metal object they can take home.The workshop will be held at George’s Careswell shop in Marshfield and space is limited to twenty so be sure and sign up early.
George Greenamyer is an artist and Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art. He has worked in the public and private sector for many years. His work has been exhibited all over the country from Penn. Station in New York City, to Anchorage Alaska and many places in between.

January 7 - Ocean Plait Rope Mat Making

During this workshop you will learn the intricate art of tying this decorative and useful rope mat. Workshop fee includes cost of rope for one mat. Frank Rodriques is a member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers, part of Mayflower II’s sailing crew and a frequent crewmember aboard the Half Moon.

December 10 - Hand tool sharpening and maintenance
Jack Pitney, instructor
Our first workshop will be taught by Jack Pitney, shipwright and boat builder, formerly of Mayflower II’s crew, now working aboard the USS Constitution. He will cover all aspects of producing and maintaining a sharp edge on a variety of hand tools. Bring your own favorite plane, chisel or pocketknife and Jack will show how to hone it to a razor’s edge. $10 members/ $20 nonmembers.
