UPDATE: Meetings were cancelled on Jan. 21st and Jan. 22nd due to a winter storm, and an additional meeting has been added. The rescheduled dates are listed below.
Plymouth residents, represented by Concerned Neighbors of Pilgrim, will be presenting two non-binding warrant articles related to nuclear waste storage to the Board of Selectmen, the Advisory & Finance Committee, and the Nuclear Matters Committee.
- NEW DATE: Board of Selectmen meeting: Jan. 28, 2014, 7:00 pm, Plymouth Town Hall, 11 Lincoln Street (Mayflower II Meeting Room)
- NEW DATE: Advisory and Finance Committee meeting: Feb. 12, 2014, 7:00 pm, Plymouth Town Hall, 11 Lincoln Street (Mayflower II Meeting Room).
- MEETING ADDED: Plymouth Nuclear Matters Committee meeting: Jan. 27, 2014, 7:00 pm, PACTV Conference Room, 4 Collins Ave.
The Board of Selectmen and the Advisory and Finance Committee need to be convinced that the articles are important and worthy of a favorable vote at spring town meeting. A vote on each article will happen at the end of each of these two meetings.
The articles ask town officials to do all that they can to limit the storage of nuclear waste in Plymouth to Pilgrim’s waste (preventing nuclear waste from other locations from being brought in) and to see that the nuclear waste being stored in Pilgrim’s spent fuel pool be transferred to dry cask storage as soon as possible.
