Today we submitted a comments letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding the agency’s proposed plan to make regulatory improvements to the nuclear decommissioning process. Since 2013, five power reactors have permanently shut down, defueled, and are transitioning to decommissioning. With even more plants shutting down in the near future (Pilgrim included!), the NRC is realizing that the regulatory framework in place just isn’t working. Hence the proposal to make updates.
