Today the Jones River Watershed Association (JRWA) sent a follow-up letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding the public hearing that occurred in Plymouth, MA on January 31, 2017.
In the letter, we ask the NRC to “seriously consider withdrawing Pilgrim’s license and closing the facility before refueling takes place in spring 2017” because the plant “provides no benefit, only risk to our community and the Commonwealth.” We also requested a meeting with NRC staff prior to the upcoming hearing, scheduled in mid-March, to discuss our concerns further.
