On August 2, 2017, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a “Confirmatory Action Letter” to Entergy regarding its Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. The letter confirms Entergy’s commitments outlined in its recovery plan submitted at the end of July. The recovery plan aims to fix a myriad of problems that has contributed to Pilgrim being listed as a ‘Column 4’ reactor — one of the three poorest performing operating nuclear reactors in the country.

Fixes include: following procedures, addressing root and contributing causes of problems sooner, addressing problems with Pilgrim’s engineering programs, equipment performance, and plant reliability, and more.
