Learn more about our work on the Elm Street Dam →
A team of students from Smith College’s Picker Engineering Program have chosen the removal of Elm Street Dam as the focus of their Capstone Design Clinic – a year-long course in which students collaborate on applied design projects sponsored by industry and government.
The team of four Smith students and their sponsor, Stantec Engineering, have worked for the past six months on developing a conceptual design for removal of the Elm Street Dam on the Jones River. This project gives the students hands-on experience with a real world engineering challenge. It also provides JRWA and the Town of Kingston with strong preliminary information the approaches available for removal of the aging dam.
Please join us at Jones River Landing on May 5th to hear the students present the findings of their work. Refreshments available at 6 PM. Presentation begins at 6:30 PM.
