Public Meeting About Pilgrim Violation

 Thu . July 13 . 2017      Teleconference

The NRC is holding a regulatory conference with Entergy’s Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. Entergy will provide its perspective on the “facts and assumptions” that the NRC used to find a “Greater-Than-Green” finding and the associated violation. The violation was documented in an NRC Inspection Report published in May 2017.

The violation is related to Entergy’s failure (in May 2000) to address a potential failure mechanism on a relief valve. Entergy did not periodically monitor or maintain the valve, which subsequently failed (Sept. 2016) and resulted in an emergency backup diesel generator becoming inoperable “greater than its technical specification-allowed outage time.” Whether enforcement action is warranted will also be discussed on the call.

Members of the public can call in and listen to the meeting, and will the opportunity to ask questions. The conference line phone number is 1-888-807-1152. You will be asked to enter an access code: 7224744.
