The Jones River Watershed Association hosted an event at the Jones River Trading Company on November 22nd to celebrate the completion of the construction project. Numerous people associated with the project, including; project partners, regulators, neighbors and other interested parties attended to tour the completed site.

The Jones River was dammed soon after the coming of the Pilgrims, most likely in the mid-1600’s. The rushing river was captured to power mills, build ships, and house families that built this nation. After nearly 400 years of industrial service, we are returning the river to its natural state to support depleted smelt, river herring, shad, eel, brown trout, native brook trout, and other impacted species.
