The results for this year’s herring count are in, and it is becoming more and more clear that the hard work of the JRWA staff and volunteers is paying off. I will just let the updated year by year graph speak for itself.
With an estimated count of 21,188 (+/- 2,714) this years run will have more than doubled last year’s previous record. It’s honestly becoming somewhat problematic to graph it next to some of the meager, earlier runs. It’s a good problem to have.
I would like to extend my thanks to all of our hard working volunteer counters for helping to document the resurgence of river herring into previously inaccessible spawning habitat.
