We encourage all of our members to join us as we hold our 39th annual meeting of board elections and yearly recap.

Doors open 2:30 PM with food and drinks provided, or bring something to share.  Meeting starts at 3:00 PM with guest speaker Alex Mansfield, now of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association and the South Shore Regional Coordinator for Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program.

New candidate for Office of President to join the Board of Directors:

  • Jim McKenna, Director & President 2026

Jim McKenna is a Ph.D. in Oceanography and has spent his career in academic and federal agency positions.  He currently serves as the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Massachusetts Maritime Academy and has previously served in administrative and teaching roles at Bridgewater State University, Maine Maritime Academy, and Williams College.  Agency work includes positions with the National Park Service and Maine Sea Grant Program.  Jim is a Kingston resident since and has volunteered for fish counting.

Below are current Directors nominated for re-election for terms ending as noted at the next Annual Meeting (generally scheduled for Q1 the following year):

Term for current Board Members continues to the next Annual Meeting in Q1, 2026. 

The Treasurer is a one-year position appointed by the Board, following the Annual Meeting.

Although we recommend the slate presented, we are still willing to consider other candidates for the board, now or in the future.  Please send additional nominations for consideration to the Nominating Committee prior to the meeting February 16th.  Nominations will also be taken from the floor at the annual meeting.  Contact the Nominating Committee members below with interest and questions:

JRWA encourages your interest in participating on the Board of Directors or serving in another volunteer capacity.  Our organization is made from the people, and we need your help whenever you are ready, willing, and able.  Please let us know if you are interested!  The Landing is a supporting non-profit organization of JRWA, and the JRL Board is appointed by the JRWA Board for an unspecified period.  

Both are non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
