To further brainstorm potential problems at the Miramar development site, we will be convening a series of public get-togethers at Jones River Landing to touch upon potential issues and ways in which we can advocate for mitigating them. The site is very likely to contain numerous indigenous artifacts as many have already been discovered there and in the surrounding area. It is also an ecologically sensitive place, with wetlands that drain towards Tussock Brook which connects to the Jones River via Stony Brook, a stone’s throw from Landing Road.

There is obviously also a serious concern regarding traffic from 400 additional bedrooms worth of housing, and that is exacerbated by tidal flooding of the nearby area which is only going to increase in the years to come. We hope to line up speakers to address each of these issues and collect public commentary to eventually speak with a larger, more unified voice as this project moves through the permitting process.

Update: The Town of Duxbury was granted an extension for the Mass Housing comment period for the project until November 5th, so we have a little more time to organize. Our warrant articles were also accepted by the Town of Kingston and we greatly exceeded the necessary 100 signatures required - in total collecting over 400 petitions for each of the two petitions.
